Graduate Research Assistant Center for Subsurface Modeling
Ahmed holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from Cairo University and a second M.Sc. from the University of North Dakota. He is currently working as a research assistant at Oden institute in The Center for Subsurface Modeling (CSM) group, focusing on applied mathematics research such as coupling multiphysics-algorithms for geothermal, geomechanics, carbon capture, and EOR utilization. Ahmed is an alumnus of the 2019-EERC Energy-Hawks program. His research proposal focused on the innovative utilization of captured CO2 to boost the energy sector in North Dakota. In his research at UND, Ahmed developed an integrated image processing workflow for cores’ CT-scans for 3D printing and core-scale simulation. He also developed a numerical-well testing simulator during his master's at Cairo university. Ahmed worked as a part-time geomechanics engineer for Advantek international company for four years. He published several journals and conference papers.
